The talk will cover:
  • Brief audio demonstrations and an introduction to microtonal scales and composition.
  • An overview of the current fragmented landscape of microtonal software and hardware.
  • A brief history of tuning methods and file formats.
  • As a software developer, how can I best support microtonal tunings?
  • A proposal for a new tuning format suitable for database storage.
  • Presentation of an open source SDK for the storage and retrieval of tuning data (TBA)
  • Visions of the future.
The aim of this talk is that developers will be inspired to add support for microtonal tuning in their software.
