The SOUL language and audio platform was announced last year at ADC2018 and has since been available for people to play with on our
soul.dev website. In this workshop, its creators Julian Storer and Cesare Ferrari will introduce you to the syntax and structure of the language and help you to build a synthesiser from first principles. At the end, there will be some hardware devices available on which participants will be able to run their creations.
This workshop will cover:
- How to use the soul.dev website or a local SOUL installation to write and test your code
- The philosophy and principles behind the SOUL architecture and syntax
- How to create the building blocks of a simple synth from scratch
Requirements:
- A Mac or Windows laptop
- Some basic familiarity with audio coding of some kind
